The mission of the Illinois Association of Problem-Solving Courts is to “promote problem-solving courts in Illinois by providing education, assistance, training, and development through collaboration of behavioral health and justice systems.” The Illinois Association of Problem-Solving Courts strives to honor individuals and organizations that demonstrate exceptional leadership in promoting and advancing the mission of ILAPSC. The selected individual(s) and/or organization(s) have made substantial ontributions in implementing and/or enhancing therapeutic justice responses to persons with behavioral health issues locally, regionally, or state-wide. The nominees are evaluated by a committee of ILAPSC board members based on the following criteria:
- Has the nominee made a significant contribution in Illinois’ problem-solving-courts, professional standards or program models?
- Has the nominee shown leadership and vision, and/or advanced policy and advocacy, that positively impacts Illinois’ Problem-Solving Courts and/or their participants?
- Has the nominee provided education and/or advocacy to positively advance problem-solving courts and/or therapeutic justice?
- Has the nominee significantly improved responses for the Problem-Solving Court’s participants, enhanced public safety while promoting the goal of diverting individuals with behavioral health needs away from incarceration?
- Has the nominee advanced the goal of procedural justice?
